But there’s another option for those seeking
to find new love. It’s fun, it’s fitness-oriented, and a great bonding
experience.
It’s time to join a local coed recreational sports league.
In Hoboken, NJ there are a variety of in-town leagues that
cater to guys and gals in their 20’s and 30’s, even 40’s. For example, the
local ABL League organizes a coed slow-pitch softball league that plays on
Sunday evenings and Monday nights. It’s a great opportunity to participate in a
fitness activity that combines the thrill of sport, and the excitement of
re-living your glory days.

And the best part happens once the game is over – the
players shake hands with their opponents, depart the ball field, and saunter
out to one of the many bars or restaurants in town for some friendly post-game
banter, a cold beer or two, and a tasty meal. It’s a great chance to relax, speak
about the game presently you played, get to know your teammates more, and meet
new people.
Jason Ross, who runs the ABL League, is a living example of
how your life can change forever.
After playing in a coed softball game, he met his fiancée at
a local tavern in Hoboken called Mikie Squared.

“We played a game at Stevens University. After the game we
walked among the town, and my friend says Ok guys, should we turn right and go
to 8th Street Tavern, or turn left and hit up Mikie Squared?”
“I said let’s go left. And when we entered the bar, suddenly
a strikingly gorgeous brunette was locked eyes with me, and we struck up a
conversation, and the rest is history. We’re getting married this summer.”
When asked what sparked her interest, Jason’s fiancée said
“these guys showed up in these red uniforms, and I was instantly draw to the
tallest guy, and I just couldn't stop staring, ha. Thank god my friend dragged
me out to the bar that night. Obviously It was fate!”

Playing in a Rec League is not only a fun experience on the
field, but off the field as well. You interact with teammates, meet new people,
and get in a workout to boot.
Greg Dellaquilla, owner of the co-working space Mission 50;
also had a related experience.
“We decided to enter a company team into the ABL Coed
League, and we needed more players for our roster, so I sent out a Facebook
post to see who wanted to play. I knew that an old friend of mine was a high
school player. As a result it gave me a great reason to call her and invite her
to join. She played on the team, and we got to know each other better, and
before you knew it, we were dating. We’re getting married this summer.”
If you are single and looking for love & happy hour; want
to fetch out your inner athlete – it’s time to join a recreational sports
league. Gather up some friends and come into a team. And if you job for a big
company, invite your fellow employees if they want join the team. Your boss may

The ABL Coed Softball League is just one option for anyone looking
to get back into shape, and spark up their love life. There’s also a Coed
Shuffleboard League that plays at a few local bars in town.
Bar Shuffleboard is a game that involves sliding round discs
crosswise a long & saw dusted wooden table. You just need 2 players per
team, and you and your teammate play on opposite sides of the table.
Shuffleboard and Beer go from hand to hand. So anticipate having a lot of laugh.
No athletic skill required. It’s a great
way to network and meet new people each and every game night.
Glenn Castergine, a Hoboken resident, met a girl playing in
his first season at the Tally-Ho Bar on Washington Street. Sparks flew, and
they just got back from a trip to Denmark. Who knows, maybe they’ll end up
engaged soon?
You never know what fate has in store for you.
Carpe diem.
